Mapping LGBTQ+ Artistic Activity in Welsh

The Mas ar y Maes with Pride network with is a community of freelance organisations and partners committed to creating a long-term project that will act as a catalyst for LGBTQ+ creatives working in the Welsh language.  The end result will be a queer cultural scene in the Welsh language featuring high quality work, driven by cohesion, community spirit and inclusivity.  The network includes Stonewall Cymru, the National Eisteddfod, Glitter Cymru, Pontio Arts Centre and Pride Cymru alongside freelance artists;  Elgan Rhys, Marc Rees, Emmy Stonelake, Mirain Iwerydd, Rahim El Habachi and Osian Meilir.

The partnership between Stonewall Cymru and the National Eisteddfod continues to grow since the success of the first Mas ar y Maes programme in 2018.  Recently new strategic partnerships have been established between Mas ar y Maes and other organisations and freelancers who share the same objectives, namely, to increase work undertaken by LGBTQ+ audiences through the medium of Welsh.  Through different art forms and modes of engagement, the partnership hopes to create and develop new artists and audiences and create a data base of LGBTQ+ artists and makers to promote and develop the queer arts scene in Welsh.

This project is funded through a grant from the Arts Council of Wales' Connect and Flourish fund.
